What we publish

United States County Maps makes county-level geography easier to find and understand. The core atlas covers every state, the District of Columbia, and the county-equivalents used in federal geographic data.

Our pages are designed for students, educators, analysts, planners, travelers, researchers, and anyone who needs a quick county reference. Maps prioritize legibility and fast loading over decorative detail.

How the maps are made

Boundary geometry comes from the U.S. Census Bureau’s public cartographic boundary files. A reproducible build process groups those shapes by state and turns them into scalable SVG paths. County names, FIPS identifiers, and area fields come from the same boundary release.

We identify the data vintage on map pages and explain material limitations. We do not present generalized boundaries as parcel surveys or legal descriptions.

Independence and funding

This is an independent website and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or certified by the U.S. Census Bureau or any state or county government. The site may be funded by automatically placed display advertising. Advertising does not determine map boundaries, source choices, or editorial conclusions.
